PEOPLE WHO CAN REMEMBER EACH DAY OF THEIR LIVES

We cannot imagine that we can remember each day of our lives including what we ate , what we wore ,and what how we felt. We cannot even imagine this. We  think that this is impossible. This is surprisingly there exist a group of people who can remember each and every day of their lives. They remember each moment and each single information related to that moment. For them forgetting things is impossible. This extraordinary ability is known as Hyperthymesia or Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory (HSAM)

HYPERTHYMESIA:

Hyperthymesia is a condition in which a person can remember each event of his life in complete details. Normal people can remember selective things and there memory can be inaccurate. These people with hyperthymesia can remember  specific dates and events from many years ago.

FOR EXAMPLE if you ask them to tell what happened on a random day like if you ask them to tell what happened on October 31,2016 they will instantly tell you what day of week it was ,what they were doing that day, what was happening around the globe, how they felt that day.

FIRST CASE:

JILL PRICE was the first person to be studied by scientists for this ability. JILL knew about her different memory realizing that she can recall each and every day of her life since childhood.  She contacted researchers at university of California, lrvine and later scientists confirmed that she was having hyperthymesia.

REASONS OF THIS CONDITION:

Scientists are  studying hyperthymesia. Research tells that hyperthymesia is linked to some parts of brain:

·         The  amygdala; which is responsible for emotion processing.

·         The hippocampus; which is responsible for memory storage.

These people remember emotions along with memories which makes their memory strong

IS IT  HYPERTHYMESIA SUPERPOWER?

At first thought to have such a memory looks like a superpower but it has its own drawbacks.

ADVANTAGES OF HYPERTHYMESIA:

·         Remembering important events.

·         Strong sense of identity

·         Having ability to recall experiences of life

DISADVANTAGES OF HYPERTHYMESIA:

·         It is difficult to forget painful memories

·         Emotional stress from past events

·         Overthinking every event and having mental fatigue

THOUGHTS OF JILL PRICE ABOUT HYPERTHYMESIA:

JILL  said that this strong memory is both burden and blessing. She said that bad memories stay fresh in her mind.

RARE ABILITY:

Hyperthymesia is extremely rare. Only 60 to 100 people in world have hyperthymesia.  it is an important topic of research in the field of neuroscience.

CAN ANYONE DEVELOP HYPERTHYMESIA?

No,it is not something we can learn. It is a natural condition. People are born with this condition.

People with such memory challenges our imaginations about brain.
